She expected Little Mouse to become Cat’s sweet treat, but in this story, all of the animals are friendly. There is a snail following Little Mouse throughout the whole story. My adult eyes glanced over it, because it seemed to blend so well into the nature scenes. ![]() She noticed the illustrations were painted. She noticed right away that this was a rhyming story. She read half of the story and I read the rest to her. I tested this story out on a seven-year-old girl, who loves picture books. On Amazon, this book is listed for the age group, babies to five-year-olds. When he finally goes home, Little Mouse’s mother has a sweet treat for him. ![]() Little Mouse’s neighbors offer him their favorite treats to eat, but Little Mouse does not want what they have. ![]() Little Mouse craves something sweet, so he visits his animal neighbors, asking for something sweet to eat. The author’s love of animals and nature shows through in this story’s plot and illustrations. It is illustrated by Jennifer Finch, who hand painted the illustrations in watercolor.
